Who Will Win The 2012 British Open?

While it may be eight months away it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the 2012 British Open. For the first time since 2001 the open will return to the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes, England. Located on the western coast of England, golfers can expect everything that they have grown to love (and hate) about the British Open: wind and rain, all in unpredictable fashion. Yes, it could be sunny and calm when you start on the first hole and rainy and windy by the time you get to the seventh. What else would you expect from the British Open?

As with most tournaments post-Tiger dominance, their will more than likely not be a clear cut favorite entering the tournament. That could all change if Rory McIlroy becomes the consistent golfer we always thought he would be, or if Luke Donald finally is able to breakthrough in the majors. The regular “favorites” will always be there as well, such as Louis Oosthuizen, Padraig Harrington, Lucas Glover and Phil Mickelson. And who knows, if Tiger can finally get the spark and start playing half as good as he did before, we may see him with a chance to win his fourth Claret Jug.
